Job Summary - Assist the Airport Maintenance Manager in the planning, directing, coordination and management of the maintenance and upkeep of County owned airports in the care of grounds, buildings, equipment, fixtures and facilities. Assist in the management of the Airport Maintenance Department including a staff of over 180 persons in various disciplines and trades in the performance of their 24 hour per day 356 days per year operation.

Job Responsibilities -

  • Assist with Management and direction of daily activities of Maintenance Dept - Assist with management and direction of the daily activities of the Airport Maintenance Department in a 24/7/365 operations through supervisors to include the care and upkeep of buildings, grounds, and airfield. This includes electrical, plumbing, HVAC, custodial and minor building repair, and construction projects.
  • Inspect Facilities, Coordinate repairs and services - Inspect the condition of facilities and equipment. Prioritize, assign, schedule and coordinate repairs and services through subordinate supervisors. Verify that work was completed properly.
  • Direct Maintenance Staff during Emergencies and Snow Removal - Coordinate the Maintenance section during emergency situations and Direct Maintenance staff during snow removal events. Ensure that the snow removal operation is coordinated with Airport Operations and complies with our Snow and Ice Control Plan and all FAA standards.
  • Assume duties of Maintenance Manager - Assume the duties of the Airport Maintenance Manager in their absence.
  • Personnel Issues - Assist with management of department personnel issues relative to hiring, training, motivating, evaluating, disciplining, and terminating employees and representing Airport Management at grievance and disciplinary hearings and other meetings related to labor relations.
  • Directs purchases and assist in budget preparation - Directs the purchase of equipment, materials and supplies and assist management in the development of equipment purchases and the annual operations budget.

Required Education and Experiences -

  • Current residency within the State of Wisconsin required.
  • Valid Wisconsin Driver's License
  • GMIA Class 1 Airfield license required within 6 mos. & maintained.
  • Ability to lift/carry, push/pull up to 60 lbs. required.
  • Bachelor's degree in construction Facility Management, Aviation, Engineer or related field
  • At least (3) Three years of experience at an air carrier Airport and/or related DPW or Facilities, Construction experience.
  • At least (1) year of supervising at an air carrier Airport and/or related DPW or Facilities, Construction experience.
  • In lieu of education, min 4 years of experience in the related filed.

License -

  • AAAE/ACI/IFMA certifications and CDL preferred.
