Job Description

Job Summary

As a Production Supervisor, you will be a hands on leader that mentors and coaches associates to provide the best products to our bakery-cafes. From receiving ingredients, producing our raw dough products and efficiently loading our trucks, you will be responsible for the entire production cycle, all the while ensuring GMP's, food safety, and process controls are being followed to meet quality standards.

Essential Job Functions

  • Servant Leadership
    • Performs daily walks and visual inspections of the Production floor in observation of unsafe acts or conditions; takes immediate corrective action where necessary.
    • Collaborates with all departments to coordinate activities and resolve production issues on a timely basis to provide the highest level of service.
    • Leads in a way that promotes cooperation and commitment within the team to achieve goals and deliverables.
  • Effective Communication
    • Maintain favorable working relationships with associates through open communication, visibility, and involvement to promote a positive working environment that maximizes safety, employee engagement, productivity, efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Personal Responsibility
    • Adheres to product specification requirements throughout the manufacturing process to maintain the desired product quality results.
    • Verifies that all Production quality control points (QCP's) are completed as designed.
    • Ensures tasks are completed in accordance with HACCP and FSMA requirements; taking corrective action when necessary.
    • Perform administrative actions for assigned personnel, including performance appraisals, timesheets, and disciplinary action.
    • Manages employee training and required documentation to ensure effective training methods that are in compliance with current procedures and quality standards.
  • Challenging Spirit
    • Drive the use of best manufacturing practices such as lean manufacturing, visual management, waste elimination, and 5S
    • Leads, promotes, and facilitates continuous improvement activities with production associates to identify methods to improve product quality, output, and cost resolution.
  • Decision Making
    • Evaluate production schedules and labor requirements to provide work direction, effectively balance labor resources and provide feedback on Planning.
  • Successful Business Results
    • Hands-on supervision of daily operations including workflow scheduling, management of associates, monitoring productivity and quality, production process troubleshooting and all other activities required to ensure on-time delivery and 100% customer satisfaction.
    • Develops and maintains production metrics for quality, delivery, and safety, including visual controls and provides regular progress reports.


Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Associates Degree and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 2+ years of hands on, supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably within food production environment, baking or related industry.
  • B.A/ B.S. Degree (Preferred).
  • Past experience training associates in safe work practices and following GMP's (Good Manufacturing Practices).
  • Six Sigma Green Belt Certified (Preferred).

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Good working knowledge of production equipment (mixers, dividers, rounders, proofers, etc).
  • Ability to supervise and mentor hourly production associates.
  • Working knowledge of process controls and industry standards.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Good Organization and Time Management Skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Required to work weekends, holidays, and/or off shift hours.
  • Ability to listen to others and makes informed decisions in a timely manner.
  • Ability to earn trust and respect through consistent honesty and professionalism in all interactions.

Essential Physical Requirements

The following physical requirements must be performed with or without reasonable accommodation. The work environment requires tolerance to variations in temperature, wet conditions in dishwashing area, exposure to food products, and manufacturing equipment that includes a variety of controls and mechanisms.

  • Ability to manipulate equipment utilizing manual dexterity.
  • Ability to stand, walk, squat, and sit for long periods of time.
  • Ability to understand written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to push and lift items with varying degrees of weight. Occasional pushing of cabinets up to 400 pounds with or without assistance is required.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motion movements with upper extremities.
