Summary: The Accreditation and Verification Program Coordinator works across multiple verification programs to provide support and guidance to applicant centers, surgeon reviewers, committee members, and the public at large regarding all aspects of the verification process. Responsibilities include interacting with customers, surgeon reviewers, program leadership, and other ACS Departments through both written and verbal communications to guide applicant centers through each step of the application process from initial application up to and including full verification as well as maintenance of verification. This position will work across multiple verification programs including the ACS Quality Verification Program (QVP), Vascular Verification Program (Vascular-VP), Emergency General Surgery Verification Program (EGS-VP), and other new programs in development.

This exempt position will report to the Senior Manager, Accreditation and Verification Program Development in the Division of Research and Optimal Patient Care. It is based in our Chicago office and is a hybrid role: 3 days per week in the office/2 days per week remote.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides application consultation to hospital leadership and program staff at applicant centers regarding program standards, requirements for verification, and application/site visit processes and protocols.

  • Manages a portfolio of applicant centers to facilitate all steps of the verification process from initial application to full verification. Reviews all application materials to ensure eligibility and compliance with program standards prior to site verification visits. Communicates standards deficiencies to participating centers and manages requests for additional supporting documentation between the center and program leadership and surgeon reviewers conducting business on behalf of the ACS.

  • Works with the Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) business team to confirm contracts and payment of verification fees and manages center records via an IT platform (Aptify). Provides official notification of verification designation to centers as well as updates regarding centers' verification status to internal and external contacts.

  • Provides general administrative support to staff and committees. Supports programmatic development of the multiple verification programs including the development of policies and procedures for effective administration of the program. Acts as a liaison between program leadership, committees, and surgeon reviewers to relay any changes in policy, program standards, or verification practices.

Required Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university is required.

  • At least 2+ years' experience in a similar professional role is preferred.

  • Experience in a clinical or healthcare setting, along with an understanding of clinical terminology, is strongly preferred.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Must be able to multi-task and organize priorities to meet competing deadlines.

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat. Aptify experience a plus.
