The Milwaukee Athletic Club has been a pillar of our downtown community for 140 years. Founded in 1879 as the Milwaukee Athletic Society and incorporated in 1880, the Club had nine temporary locations before finally settling into our current home in 1917. Our Clubhouse was designed by local architect Armand Koch and was significantly upgraded in 1948 adding signature spaces designed by Eschweiler & Eschweiler. In our early days, the Club was primarily organized around Court sports such as racket ball, handball, and squash. The MAC sent a team to the Olympics in 1904, including the first African American to ever compete in the games, George Poage. For decades, the MAC fielded teams in multiple sports that competed  in exhibitions across the state and Midwest, including a scrimmage in the 1920s against the Green Bay Packers.

Today the MAC is entering a bright new era, having recently concluded a $65 million top-to-bottom renovation. There are no private City Clubs or downtown Athletics facilities in Milwaukee that can compete with our slate of offerings. In addition to a state-of-the-art fitness center, we offer best-in-class dining, a breathtaking rooftop restaurant, and an active social calendar.

Throughout our history, camaraderie and business networking have been every bit as important as fitness and athletics. The MAC has a robust and active business roundtable community. Networking at the MAC puts the personal before the professional, giving members the opportunity to dine together and hear a presentation from their peers in the business community. From entrepreneurship to IT or Finance, the MAC has a like-minded community to help any member grow relationships within their field.
